Deborah Lapidus
Deborah Lapidus serves as Climate Advisers' outreach director and is responsible for shaping the firm's field, communications, and public education campaigns. Deborah has years of experience leading environmental and electoral campaigns around the country that have engaged public officials, health professionals, educators, students, celebrities, business leaders, community advocates, organizations and tens of thousands of people. Prior to joining Climate Advisers, Deborah led Corporate Accountability International's Value [the] Meal Campaign, working to reverse the epidemic of diet-related disease and foster a more sustainable food system. In this role, Deborah built a grassroots coalition to secure the passage of San Francisco's landmark Healthy Meals Incentive Ordinance, setting nutritional standards for children's meals sold with toy giveaways. As a leader on Corporate Accountability International's Think Outside the Bottle Campaign, Deborah mobilized over 1,000 mayors to pass resolutions at the 2008 and 2009 U.S. Conference of Mayors meetings that called on cities to phase out taxpayer spending on bottled water and to promote their public water systems. To date, over 100 municipalities and six states have implemented the resolution. Deborah's work has generated extensive news coverage, earning her interviews on MSNBC, the New York Times, NPR, USA Today, and many others. Deborah is a graduate of Green Corps, a fellowship for environmental organizing, and a two-time recipient of the Morris K. Udall Scholarship for Environmental Leadership. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Brown University.
