Maria Belenky is Director of Policy and Research at Climate Advisers, where she contributes to wide range of the firm’s research and policy practice, including sustainable development, energy and climate policy, and tropical forest conservation.
Maria has several years of development and environmental sustainability experience. She has researched the impact of global fossil fuel development for the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Rainforest Action Network, and analyzed US natural disaster risk exposure in partnership with Swiss Re. Previously, Maria worked at the Results for Development Institute where she helped launch the Center for Health Market Innovations, an effort to identify and take to scale programs that improve access to quality health services in the developing world.
Maria holds an M.A. in international relations and international economics, with a focus on energy and the environment, from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a B.A. in international relations and economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
