Climate Advisers today welcomed accomplished forest campaigner Scott Paul as the newest member of its team of political and environmental professionals. Paul brings decades of experience and accomplishment to his new position, in which he will lead the consultancy’s forest campaigns, including the transformative initiative Forest Heroes.
“Scott brings decades of experience to Climate Advisers and has won major victories for forests and the climate,” said Nigel Purvis, President and CEO. “He is well known at the highest levels as an effective advocate for sustainable development who can bridge the gap between corporations, government and citizens. This is an exciting new era for Forest Heroes and Climate Advisers, and Scott’s leadership brings new opportunities for extraordinary impact and change.”
“Despite recent success stories, the Earth continues to lose critical intact forest landscapes at an alarming rate due to their conversion to large-scale agriculture,” said Paul. “In recent years nearly three-quarters of all tropical deforestation has been caused by agricultural conversion. This obviously has massive implications for biodiversity, local communities and the global climate. Climate Advisers has an impressive track record finding solutions in this space, and I am excited to be a part of it.”
For 14 years, Paul developed and managed all aspects of the Forest Campaign for Greenpeace USA, developing innovative strategies and leading a multi-year review of the organization’s corporate relations. At Greenpeace, he created market campaigns to demand greater sustainability from major companies including Kimberly-Clark, the world’s largest tissue products company – resulting in an industry leading procurement policy that reinvented the company’s fiber procurement supply chain. After Greenpace, he served on the senior management team of Provitro Biosciences, a startup working on breakthrough technologies to create sustainable wood products. Paul joins Climate Advisers after working as a consultant to a range of clients on issues related to natural resource procurement and corporate sustainability.
At Climate Advisers, Paul will have the title Senior Fellow and will be reachable at email@example.com.
